(Unit Project 2) How to make simple Bibimbap
Have you ever eaten Bibimbap? Have you ever made Bibimbap? Bibimbap is simply Korean mixed rice. It is well-liked by the public not only in Korea but also in Japan, because it is colorful and good looking or have well-balanced and rich nutrients. It has lots of varieties, such as "Yukhoe Bibimbap", "Helem Bibimbap" (Helem is seafood such as octopus and squid.) and "Vegetable Bibimbap". Moreover, there is simple Korean style Bibimbap with seasonings which is high-salt miso.
The history of Bibimbap has begun since 1800s. At that time, Joseon Dynasty, it was called "Cordon Vans" which means mixing at a dizzying pace. According to the literature of the time, the way of eating then and now was almost the same. Though there are various theories, Bibimbap had a custom to eat all the food of the year on New Year's Eve. However, the truth is not clear even now.
~Ingredients (2 servings)~
・Spinach (one bag)
・Carrots (half a piece)
・Bean sprouts (half a bag)
・Minced pork(200g)
・Egg (two)
・Rice (400g)
・Seaweed (proper quantity)
・Sesame oil (1 tablespoon)
・Chicken stock base (1 teaspoon)
・Soy sauce (1 tablespoon)
・Sugar (1 tablespoon)
・Grated garlic (small quantity)
・Gochujang (proper quantity)
~Tool~
・one knife
・one frying pan
・one chopping board
・two bowl of rice
~Procedure~
1, First, in advanced, cook rice for two people and peel the carrot.
2, Then, cut the carrot into 5cm width and the spinach into 5cm width too.
3, Next, heat up the frying pan over high heat, and pour the 1 tablespoon sesame oil.
4, Then put sauté the spinach and the carrot which you just cut and prepared the bean sprouts into the heating frying pan.
5, After sautéing to some extent, season the spinach, the carrot and the bean sprouts with the 1 teaspoon chicken stock base, salt and paper.
6, Once the flavors of these sautéed vegetable have blended, put aside sautéed vegetables.
7, In same pan, add sesame oil again and fry the 200g of minced pork over high heat.
8, When the minced pork cooked well, season with the 1 tablespoon soy sauce, the 1 tablespoon sugar and the granted garlic of small quantity.
9, After mixed seasoned ground pork, remove from the heat.
10, Serve rice any amount you like in the bowl.
11, On the served rice, put the sautéed vegetable and the fried minced pork.
12, Finaly, topping the egg, seaweed and gochujang as you like.
Bibimbap has long been eaten not only in Korea but also in many other countries. Recently, it is even more popular in Japan, where the Korean boom continues. There is also a type of bibimbap called "Seokyaki Bibimbap", which is served in a container heated at a high temperature and enjoyed for its charred and savory parts.
